Can I have the blandest bier on the planet?

Wednesday, October 21

Five people used three ICE trains to return to Munchen. We were not to see Steve any more, he was going home, but not before he had been to Mango (Zweibrucken Strasse) for a curry. Howard arrived at Mango before 14.30, Hector and Marg were not far behind. But little did we know that this fine curry house closes between 15.00 and 17.30. We tried to stop Dr Stan walking all the way down to Isartor, but once he gets into his stride.

A rendezvous at Marienplatz saw Howard head off towards Andechs? And the rest of us go to Viktualienmarkt: Dr Stan and Hector had a very wet sweet and sour gherkin. We could now face a bier, the Augustiner Grossgastatte was around the corner on Kaufinger Starsse. Marg continued her wander, Hector ordered an Edelstoff, Dr Stan a Hell. Dr Stan does not rate Edelstoff. There is a recurring theme here.

With Marg back with us, we three returned to Mango. The Lamb Madras is excellent! Marg ordered king prawns by mistake, Hector swapped meals half way through. Dr Stan ate his dinner.

The Pschorr Haus sells Edelhell Direkt. No gas, no pumps...it is a very safe undemanding bier. The place was filling up, an office party saw a Fraulein tap a barrel...best to stay here until the town quietens. Howard had not been to Andechs! but had been to the Paulaner micro at Kapuziner Platz. He described the bier as bland. And so we therefore had to go to Dr Stan’s favourite outlet am Dom where Augustiner Hell is served Direkt! It is quite bland too given all that had come before.

Andechs am Dom was inevitable...do you sell Spezial Hell?
The Weizen and the Doppelbock Dunkel were consumed, as per normal.
